India Squeezed Between American and Chinese Threats

In the midst of fast-growing international tensions
around the world when the religious fanaticism of
George W. Bush has persuaded him to assume the role of
crusader, acting under the Divine Authority, to lead
the Christianity into the Biblical phase of
Armageddon in its final confrontation with what he
considers as ` The Muslim Satanic Forces', the
arrival of the `nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS
Nimitz' at India's Chennai port is laden with
far-reaching consequences. The gullibility of the
Indian government has touched its peak when such a
dangerous move by the USA is being termed as `yet
another landmark in the growing warmth between
Washington and New Delhi.'
If it is the height of good relations between the
two countries, then we have no reason why we must not
call the Chinese continued occupation of thousands
of kilometres of Indian territory, usurped during the
1962 war, and its latest brazen claim to `Arunachal
Pradesh' , as the best example of `good neighbourly
relations', `a deep sense of `camaraderie' ,and the
`most magnificent feelings of togetherness'. One
friend is claiming our property and the other one is
sending its nuclear-powered aircraft to terrorise us
as sometimes our government makes pretensions to the
concept of `non-alignment', and tries to make some
overt advances to restore the figment of normal
relations with Iran.
A few days back the US Secretary of State Condoleeza
Rice discarded the notion of `non-alignment', saying
that it was the concept of the Cold War period, and
has lost its relevance under the present international
set-up. Her statement was prompted by the
deteriorating American relations with Russia, as the
reminiscences of past glory have started haunting Mr.
Putin, and during the recent visit of the Venenzulan
President, both the leaders expressed their
determination to eke out an independent role in the
world politics.
Under the present circumstances when US-Israel
lobby is all set to strike Iran to dismantle the
latter's nuclear installations, without knowing the
horrendous repercussions, it is still not too late for
imprudent and unwise Indian government to view the
arrival of this nuclear carrier , not as a symbol of
brother Bush's handshake with Mr. Man Mohan Singh ,
but as a direct ever threat to the Indian safety,
security, sovereignty, territorial integrity and
independence.

Indian nuclear scientists to monitor USS Nimitz
Nimitz's N-weapon status unclear
July 01, 2007
Reuters, Chennai
An Indian Navy ship equipped with a
radiation-monitoring laboratory will keep watch on the
American nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Nimitz
when it comes calling at the southern port of Chennai
on Monday.
The first-ever Iindian port call by a US aircraft
carrier has sparked controversy. Some politicians
said, Washington was trying to absorb New Delhi into
its sphere of military influence while some port
workers voiced environmental fears.
"A stringent radiation-monitoring protocol is in place
which will periodically monitor and analyse air and
water samples," naval officer Commodore PE Vanhalteren
said.
The Nimitz is due to lie at anchor off Chennai,
formerly known as Madras, until July 5 in what has
been termed yet another landmark in the growing warmth
between Washington and New Delhi.
Leftists have planned to organise protests in Chennai
during the port call.
