[kanoshia] Barakah - Blessings

In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.

All praise is for Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. And Peace be upon His Prophets and Angels.

"Barakah - Blessings"

Assalamu 'alalikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,

Barakah is the abundance of goodness. Mubarak is something which contains the potential goodness.

From Qur'an & Ahadith we learn that Barakah comes from sharing things. Our material thoughts alarm us from sharing that which we like but the reality is different.

For example, we think that usury (riba, interest) increases our money but there is no barakah (goodness) in usury, so the money from the usury ultimately does not benefit the user, further to say that it becomes harmful. Islam (as well some as other religions) have condemned usury. Today, almost the whole world is running on usury but still what is the rate of people dying out of hunger? Why are people in the 'first world' committing suicide? Should we not realize now, the important things we need to share; false news and bombs are not the things we should share.

Islam encourages us to share things with others, things which will benefit others. If we spend our money in charity, or spend our time in helping others, or share our knowledge in promoting kindness, or share our food with our neighbours or whatever we can do to benefit others, then insha'Allah our Money, Time, Knowledge and everything we share for the God's sake will be blessed by Him. We will be satisfied even with little money, and we wouldn't feel that time is running out.

For any goodness, done for the sake of Allahu ta'ala, Allah will multiply it from 10 times to over 700 times. So even if we eat with the name of Allah (with Bismillah), Allah places barakah (blessings) into our food and we enjoy it, even with less food.

The material eye has limited vision, but the true vision is not limited. So never rely on materialism.

Al Qur'an [ al-Qusas -- 28:77 ]:

وابتغ فيما اتاك الله الدار الاخرة ولاتنس نصيبك من الدنيا واحسن كما احسن الله اليك ولاتبغ الفساد في الارض ان الله لايحب المفسدين

  • But seek, with that (wealth) which Allah has bestowed on you, the home of the Hereafter, and forget not your portion of legal enjoyment in this world, and do good as Allah has been good to you, and seek not mischief in the land. Verily, Allah likes not the Mufsidoon (those who commit great crimes and sins, oppressors, tyrants, mischief-makers, corrupts).

Wa Assalamu 'alaikum.

'Abdullah
